While attending the Dakota War Commemoration events, Family and Friends of Dakota Victims members took the opportunity to visit many Dakota War sites and other landmarks in the Renville and Brown County area.
Birch Coulee: On a bluff overlooking the Minnesota River valley, this monument lists the names of the soldiers who died and were wounded while fighting the Battle of Birch Coulee.
Leavenworth Rescue Expedition. This tour was sponsored by Brown County and featured the author of the Leavenworth Rescue Expedition Revisted, by Gary Wiltscheck.
Lower Sioux Agency watcher’s tower from which Dakota women watched to scare away birds attacking their corn fields.
