2016 Events

The people of Minnesota continue to commemorate the anniversary of the 1862 Dakota Uprising. We will be updating this page as more events become known. If you know of other events in 2016, please email Jan Klein.

NEW: Dan Munson, author of Malice Toward None, sends this note:

I have another talk coming up concerning the book Malice Toward None about the Kochendorfer story.

Saturday, August 27, 1:00 PM, at the Dakota County Historical Society Museum (130 3rd Ave. North in South St. Paul).  The Lawshe Memorial Museum contains the “Kochendorfer file” that I came across when doing research for the book.  The folks at the Museum know Marilyn Hoffman, and I hope that Marilyn can attend the talk (with a little help from her daughter Cindy).

Tuesday, August 23 at 12:30 PMI am going to promote the talk and the Kochendorfer story on KDMA 1460AM radio (in Hastings), a show highlighting the goings-on at the Dakota County Historical Society.

NEW: The Brown County Historical Society observes the U.S.Dakota War week with these commemorative activities:
